Work Experience Sevenoaks Week: 1st-5th July

The Sevenoaks and District Chamber of Commerce will be offering a week-long work experience event for students from across the district from 1st-5th July.

The purpose of the work experience week

is to offer local businesses the opportunity to showcase different career paths to local students without the need to commit to a full day or week of work experience. Businesses will be invited to offer half-day, one or two-hour presentations and round table events to provide students with a wide variety of career options to consider. FM Conway and Ten2Two Flexible Recruitment are helping the

Chamber with the planning and organisation of the event, during which members will be offering their expertise and advice to students on potential career paths in various industries. The week long programme will offer: • Site visits and tours of businesses. • Round table discussions about different career paths. • Skill sessions providing essential skills to prepare for work.

• Interactive workshops and networking events.

A new outdoor gym is to be installed at Julian’s Meadow play area in the town after grant funding was obtained from Derbyshire Environmental Trust. The new equipment which will include a rower, health walker and more, will be in place for the public to use free of charge. Open Spaces & Leisure Committee Chairman, Councillor Dr Merilyn Canet, said: “Sevenoaks Town Council is encouraging everyone to enjoy our parks and gardens and public spaces and get fi t with exercise. Why should children have all the fun? We hope you enjoy using this new, free facility.”
