SPORTS TEAMS TIGERS

The Medicine Hat Tigers are synonymous with the city, starting their 50th season this fall and once again aiming for the Memorial Cup.

Playing out of the beautiful Canalta Centre, they'll have 34 home dates in the Western Hockey League's regular season, plus more if they can make the playoffs for the 17th time in the past 18 years.

The orange and black have graduated dozens of players to the NHL, and even a few coaches.

MAVERICKS

The defending champions are looking to repeat in the Western Canadian Baseball League this summer. The Medicine Hat Mavericks are a team of college-age players, a large group of new faces every year as athletes graduate.

With 28 home dates set for 1,500-seat Athletic Park, June and July will be abuzz as the team looks to replicate the success it has in 2018.
