overnments and stakeholders around the world are looking to reduce their dependency on conventional


fuels, improve air quality, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.


“A petrochemical like methanol can play an important role in this energy shift,” said Rawle Ramlochan, the plant manager at Methanex Corporation’s Medicine Hat facility. “Methanol is a clean-burning and economically viable alternative energy solution that can provide fuel diversity and increase consumer choice.”


Methanex Corporation is the world’s largest supplier of methanol to global markets, with a market share of 14 per cent. A Canadian company headquartered in Vancouver, Methanex operates production sites in Chile, Egypt, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, the U.S., and right here in Medicine Hat. Methanex is the sole commercial-scale methanol producer in Canada.


Methanex’s Medicine Hat plant has a production capacity of 600,000 metric tonnes per year, which gives it the
