homeware, have a food hall, and a café.And, at 7,808sqm(84,044sqft) it will be larger than the one at nearbyHempstead Valley. The new opening date of next

Preparing you for an amazing journey

The storewill need up to 300 full

and part-time staff. Originally, Waitrose was ex-

pectedtomove onto the site, which is owned and being developed by Gallagher’s, in spite of having plans approved by MBC in May 2017. Gallagher hopes the M&S storewill attract further interest in the site, which also has permission formore offices and a hotel. Gallagher Group chairman Pat

Gallagher says the store – the largest being openedby the retailer

in 2020 – serves as a vote of confi- dence in the town. The store is de- signed to attract shoppers from a wide catchment area. The glass-fronted store will in-

clude Kentish ragstone, supplied by the Gallagher quarry in Her- mitage Lane. Itwill be one of just two includ-

ing clothing and homeware de- partments, out of 36 planned by M&S as the retailer reshapes its store estate. The other newoutlets will focus onM&S food.
