Thug JayRing spat athis mumand punched door

A JOBLESS teenager spat at his mumafter shewent for a cigarette on the balcony, a court heard. Jay Ring (19), of London Road,

punched a door in anger after his mother came back into the home “shouting at everyone”when they would not help calm down her young grandchild. He appeared atMaidstoneMag-

istrates Court where he pleaded guilty to common assault and criminal damage. Prosecuting, Debbie Jones said:

“At around 9.30pm on March 14, police receiveda 999 call fromEliz- abeth Polan to attend a domestic incidentwith her son at her flat. “Police arrived at the scene and

arrestedMrRing for criminaldam- age and common assault.” The court heard Ring spat as his

mother and only just missed her. The court heard both mum and son hadverydifferent recollections of the events that night.

Mrs Polan said she had gone for

a cigarette on the balcony, and when she returned she asked everyone for help calming her dis- tressed grandchild. Ring insisted she did not ask for

help, and instead came back “screaming and shouting”. Ring said: “She didn’t ask any-

one for help and she didn’t tell anyone where she was going. We

hadno ideawhere shewas andshe ispainting it out to soundbetter on her side. She cannot find any fault in herself. I got very frustrated and punched the door.” The court heard their relation-

shipwas now“fine” and they had spoken since the altercation. Ring saidhe suffers fromADHDandso- cial anxiety, and had recently moved back to hismother’s home. Chairman of the bench, Martin

Alderman said: “I hope one thing you take away from this incident was that it was in a domestic set- ting. Do not think for one second spitting is anything other than a domestic violence issue, because it is. This is clearly a very brief and low level incident, but you clearly have anger problems you need to address as you get older. You have shown a great deal of maturity in court today.” Ringwas given a 12month con- ditional discharge and a £105 fine.
