Halesworth Town Council TOWN Council Elections - By the time you read this the Town Council elections will be over. Twelve seats will
have been contested
by fourteen candidates and once the counting has been concluded the result will be advertised. The Council would like to thank two of the Councillors for their service who had decided not to stand this time

the last ten years and Keith Forster, who had served a much shorter time but had committed a lot of time and effort into some of the more recent projects and challenges facing the
Town. Both Unit 15, Halesworth Business Park, Halesworth IP19 8QJ councillors brought their
own unique and much valued experience and knowledge to the Council and will be sadly missed.
The new Council will have
their first meeting on Monday 13th May at 7pm in the Day Centre. Thereafter the usual monthly
council meetings
will be on the first Monday of each month in the Day centre (except bank holidays when it is normally held on the following Monday). The Annual Parish meeting
will be held as normal at Edgar Sewter School at 7pm on May 23rd. This meeting is unique and different from any other meeting in fact it is not an official Council meeting but a meeting of the people of the parish of Halesworth.
It is therefore a more open affair and residents will have the opportunity to raise any matters relating to the parish of Halesworth.
One hour free parking – important
changes in the
town in the near future: A reminder that the one hour free parking will change from the Thoroughfare car park to four other car parks; Angel Link North, Angel Link South, Post Office and Station Rd. This change will take place once East Suffolk Council (formerly WDC) have made all the necessary changes, the Town Council will notify residents when this has been implemented but it is not expected to happen until late July.

OUR April meeting saw 17 ladies gather together at the characterful De Argenteins in the Thoroughfare. The meeting was hosted by group member and owner of De Argenteins, Becky Jones. Becky gave a wonderful talk on the history of the building and the journey that her and hubby Steve have been on to restore it and bring their restaurant to life. The hard work and passion they have put in is evident and Becky’s enthusiasm is infectious. Her talk was followed by a cooking demonstration whereby we all made courgette, pea and mint fritters. Becky and Tara then cooked these, and we all enjoyed eating them alongside a roasted red pepper dip that Becky had prepared earlier. Both were absolutely delicious and we were all agreed we would be recreating them at home! Becky also arranged a mystery food quiz for us - well done to Sharon for winning the prize! This was followed by our usual chat
and networking. Thank you to all those who attended and created such a great, buzzing atmosphere,
especially the
new faces. By the time you read this, the amazing Becky will have completed the London Marathon to raise funds for The Sick Children’s Trust who offered invaluable support to her and her family last year when her daughter Beth, was fighting for her life against Meningitis. Well done Becky. The Halesworth Women in Business Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, 7pm-9pm and is open to any woman in business in Halesworth or the surrounding area. We are a very informal, free group and always welcome new members. More information can be found in our Facebook group or email hwibgroup@gmail. com. Our next meeting dates are May 8th at De Argenteins and June 5th at Woottens plants in Wenhaston.
