stablished in 2016, EventIt is the creation of lifelong events professional Judith Wilson, whose vision was to establish a single


market place where events planners could access everything they might ever need: from suppliers for the conference and meetings market, to product launches, incentives, festivals and outdoor. Now in its fourth edition, an


initial seedling of an idea has grown into a fully-fledged annual trade show that has now become one of the most important fixtures in events planners’ calen- dars, both in Scotland and across the UK. Described by VisitScot-


land as a show for “seri- ous players”, the trade event is a gathering place for an increasingly diverse mix of events suppliers, from caterers to them- ing companies, AV and technology companies, as well as the many venues that make up the very best of the £3.5bn Scottish events and festivals sector. As Allie Barr, of Discover Te World UK, says: “We’re excited to be part of EventIt this year; the Scottish market is valuable to us and our partners and EventIt provides an excellent platform to showcase our partners to Scottish buyers over the course of one day, under one roof. suppliers and buyers to meet, EventIt has a compelling educational offer for event planners; 2019 will be no exception and the four Learning Zones will focus on Event Technol- ogy, Connectivity, Festivals and Event Trends. Te latter category proved a big hit when EventIt launched an annual ‘Event Trends’ conference at Dynamic Earth in December. Te speed-dating style format worked well for event buyers who are hungry for information on everything from the latest AV to nutrition, creativity and technology, which is transform- ing the events landscape for the better. It also benefited suppliers who were able to showcase their products and services in a warm and friendly, ‘non-salesy’ environment. Tat ex- perience will feed into the sessions that populate the show at Glasgow’s SEC on March 21; delegates will also be able to subscribe to the worshops of their choice in advance of the event, and the Expoplat- form system will enable delegates and exhibitors to ‘pre-engage’ based on sophisticated preference


matching algorithms. EventIt is a small and intimate


trade show which is growing in stature and influence on the national stage; it is home to over 100 exhibi- tors and 1,000 events buyers from across the industry supply chain, including pre-qualified agency, corporate in-house and association conference planners. As the year of trade shows kicks off, the demands on events professionals to plan their calendar means some tough choices.
