SNODLAND Town Football Club has been awarded a grant of al- most £58,000 towards its new changing rooms and clubhouse facilities by the FA Football Stadia Improvement Fund. The club was able to apply for


the grant as it raised £25,000 from the Snodland Partnership, club members, supporters and friends. Workwill begin as soon as pos-


sible. The club is finalising de- signs and obtaining construction andmaterial quotes. Mel Rayfield has been instru-

for townmove THE new Rector of Snodland will be the Rev Danielle Pearson- Smith,who is currently the curate at St John’s Church,Welling. The announcement was made


by the Bishop of Rochester, James Langstaff, and the Church Pastoral Aid Society. "Danielle is married to Steve


and has two teenage daughters, Harriet and Isobel. She is likely to be instituted and inducted inMay or June. A spokesman for the church


said: “Thewhole family is looking forwardwith excitement to settling within the community of Snod- land with Lower Birling. Danielle loves nothing better than being creative, and can’t wait to start working and getting to know all those she will be serving within the parish.” She succeeds the Rev Hugh


Broadbent, who retired in Sep- tember and now lives in Trot- tiscliffe.


Seeing red for charity

Fairytale look


to the carnival SNODLAND Carnival will be held on July 6 this year. The theme for the floats and


walking groups will be fairytales, and several groups have already said they will be having a float. Anybody who wants to take


part can get an entry form from the town council office in Waghorn Road or by calling 01632 240228. The charity this year is Breast


Awareness Campaign. Chris O’Hare and Gabriella Gratrix, from the campaign, are currently cycling round the world, and stopped off in Snodland on their way to Dover on July 18 last year to meet members of the town council and supporters. The Chris and Gabs tour will


last five years, and they are keep- ing the council informed on how they are getting on.

ELEVEN-year-old Lyric Alling- ham raised almost £1,000 and had her cut for charity. She gave her locks to the Lit-


tle Princess Trust, a charity which uses real hair to make wigs for children who have lost theirs due to cancer. Lyric, of Woodpecker Road,


Larkfield, attends Aylesford Secondary School. She used to live in Apple Close, Snod- land and attended St Kather- ine's Primary School. She joins her sister, Ayana, who had her


hair cut in 2017 for the same charity. “I wanted to get it cut for quite


a while, and thought it better to donate it to the Little Princess Trust,” she said. “I took collection boxes into


school and had a Just Giving page.” Lyric had her hair cut at Bows


Hairdressers in Snodland High Street by Amber on March 2, and was watched by her mum and dad, brother and sister, cousin and grandparents.
