NLCP Describes How Drugs Incorporate into Urine, Oral Fluid, and Hair

In its most recent newsleter, Drug Testing Maters, the National Laboratory Certification Program (NLCP) published the first of a two-part series on drug testing in urine, oral fluid, and hair. While scientific, this is great information for drug testing service providers to

understand how drugs are metabolized in the body resulting in testing matrices to detect their use by donors. Te article, authored by NLCP inspector Dr. Robert White, is called Metabolism and Matrix Formation and describes the formation of each matrix and how drugs and/or metabolites are incorporated into that matrix. Part two of the series, Analysis, will address the collection and testing of each matrix and provide a comparison of the use of the three matrices. NLCP hopes laboratories will use the articles as part of their internal staff training programs. Download part one of the series at htp:// datia.org/datia/eNews/NLCPPT1.pdf and/or subscribe to Drug Testing Maters by emailing NLCP@rti.org. ❚
