AWARDS

Last year’s recipient

SHEELIN MCKEAGNEY FPS

This accolade is awarded each year to a pharmacy professional, who has made a significant contribution not only to pharmacy, but to the wider healthcare profession in Northern Ireland. This year’s recipient, Sheelin McKeagney, has met all of the criteria – and more. Sheelin began his pharmacy career by working in the family business during school holidays. After graduating from Liverpool School of Pharmacy, he return to Northern Ireland for his pre-registration year and, by 1995, had taken over the reins of the family business following his father’s untimely death. The family business thrived under Sheelin’s direction, but he also took the pharmacies in a different direction by involving them heavily in community-based healthcare projects, and in local engagement through Building Community Pharmacy

Partnership. Sheelin hasn’t simply involved himself in the day-to-day running of pharmacies, however. He has also dedicated his career to getting involved in the development of pharmacy as a profession and, as such, has made a significant contribution to the promotion and progression of pharmacy within the health sector.
