22 January 2019 Halesworth & Southwold Community News Reydon Primary School

YeARS 1-6 celebrated the work they have produced over the Autumn term in the Topic Fair. The topics this term have had a History focus and ranged from Castles to the Stone Age to the Second World War. To support these topics classes have also taken part in trips, themed days and welcomed visitors to talk to them. Year 4 also celebrated the day with a Roman day, so they were also in authentic dress to guide parents around their display. Some year 4 and 5 children

have taken part in a two day training course in order to become our Sports Leaders. During these sessions, they have discussed what makes a good leader, learnt the importance of good communication skills and team work and have begun planning their first event, running a tournament for some of the younger children to participate in.

Congratulations to our Year

4 Unihoc team who became the North Suffolk Champions.

The choir were delighted to

be asked to sing at the village hall on behalf of the Reydon Christmas Lights appeal. The choir treated the audience to songs such as 'A Million Dreams' from The Greatest Showman and Away in a Manger. It was such a moving performance that even a few tissues were spotted at one point amongst the audience! A big thank you to the staff and volunteers who accompanied the group.

AN Inspector of Taxes has various rights of entry available when wishing to inspect your business premises to ensure that you pay the “right amount of tax”. Although HMRC will admit to being understaffed, and therefore you are possibly less likely than you were in the past to receive an inspection visit, you do still need to be aware of what to do should an Inspector come knocking at your business premises. is that the definition of a business premise for inspection

Financial Focus On…….Knock Knock

purposes includes not only a place from where the business trades but, importantly, where business records may be kept. Therefore, if you keep your records at home, the Inspector may include your home as a possible place to visit. Whilst most inspections

will be pre-arranged for a mutually convenient time with the taxpayer (with at least seven days’ notice), Inspectors do have the power to obtain authorisation to make unannounced visits (although they do not have the right to force entry and you are not obliged to let them into your premises). If an Officer does arrive with a written notice, you should always ask for identification before letting them in. You can also phone HMRC to check the identity of the visitors. The taxpayers of course

will be caught unawares by such an appearance by the Inspector, especially if they are busy with the normal everyday activities of the business at the time (serving customers, etc). Whilst it could be reasonable

THe Cutlers Hill Surgery Patient Participation Group was set up in April 2015 with the object of supporting the Surgery Staff and acting as a “critical friend”. There are twelve members of the group, all are volunteers with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We meet six times a year and call extra meetings

to assume that you might be able to ask the Inspector to wait a few minutes before the inspection commences, you should be aware that in some circumstances you could be charged a penalty for obstructing an officer of Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs in the performance of an inspection. This should be borne in mind

for any instructions left to members of staff if you are not at the premises and an Inspector calls.

Once inside, an Inspector has

the power to inspect the business premises and any business records and assets that are there. This is not taken to mean that they can physically make a search but they can request access to records, providing the request is reasonable under the circumstances. The rules do place some restrictions on what information may be produced, but very few. Information or documents that the Inspector may not see include medical histories, correspondence from lawyers, journalistic material or items that are not physically

should the need arise. There will be an A.G.M. this

year in spring when the present members will all be up for re- election. This will also be an opportunity for new members to stand for election. We would very much like

to recruit some new members from a broader age range – in particular younger patients - so we can represent the views of a wider cross section of the community. If you are interested in standing please contact the Practice Manager Looking at recent projects, the re-arrangement of the Notice Boards in the surgery seems to have been well received

present. In the main, however, the

vast majority of visits will be pre-arranged and you should, of course, contact your tax adviser or accountant as soon as you learn of an impending visitation from the other side. As they say on Crimewatch,

“Try not to have nightmares”. For further information on

any of the above points or to discuss your affairs generally, please do not hesitate to contact Robin Beadle at ensors Chartered Accountants, Saxmundham on 01728- 603005. This article seeks to address

general business and financial issues and due care has been taken in its preparation. ensors cannot accept responsibility for loss incurred by any person, company or entity as a result of acting, or failing to act, on any material in this publication. Specialist advice should

with several patients in the Practice already expressing their approval. Patients will be soon be

asked for their feedback via questionnaires on the “Same Day Team” and Triage System and the PPG has been asked to help with the analysis of the results. The last “Walking for Health” session here in Halesworth was on Wednesday 19th December and a new pamphlet with a list of walks will be published in the New Year.
