Pupils in Years 10 and 11 watched a live broadcast of the RSC’s highly acclaimed adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The play was beamed live directly into the Oliver Studio. Students also benefited from an introduction from director Erica Whyman and, at the end of the play, a Q&A session with Bally Gill who played Romeo and Karen Fishwick who played Juliet. English teacher Katy Bertie said: “Seeing a live performance of a key GCSE text by proficient actors is really beneficial to pupils. It provided a great introduction to the play for those who have yet to study it and was fantastic revision for the Year 11s.”

ESOL students visit Windsor Castle

Our overseas students enjoyed a visit to Windsor Castle in November where they were able to view the changing of the guard and see the dress worn by Meghan Markle at her wedding to Prince Harry. Amy, who is in Year 11, said: “We were surprised that the band at the changing of the guards played songs by Queen including ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. “As an art student I especially enjoyed looking at the paintings and all the decorations on the ceilings which I found amazing.”
