Double triumph for Sibford rugby teams S


Sibford Sports Captain Reuben joined PE staff at the 2018 School Games Mark Celebration evening. Held on 14 November at Blessed


George Napier School in Banbury, the event saw Sibford presented with the prestigious Gold Award in recognition of our commitment to the development of competition across our school and our community. Claire Ferley, Sibford’s Director of Sport, said: “Guest speaker at the event was Paralympic footballer, Alistair Patrick-Heselton, who gave an inspirational speech and delivered a fantastic message to all the athletes present by telling them simply to ‘enjoy what you do’, a secret for success as told to him by both his mother and also former English football captain David Beckham.” This is the second year in succession that Sibford has been awarded the Gold Games Mark.


ibford’s Year 9 Rugby team were triumphant this term after winning the Banbury and District Schools Rugby Final. The match, which took place on 15 November under the floodlights


at Bodicote Park, home to Banbury RUFC, saw Sibford up against The Bicester School. Lee Riley, teacher with responsibility for Senior School Sport said:


“The boys pulled out all the stops for the final giving one of their best performances of the season and finishing with an emphatic 64-7 victory! “Everyone was at the top of their game but numerous tries for Finn and Mila and relentless tackling from Oli stuck in the mind as outstanding performances.” Two days later, is was the turn of our Junior pupils to visit Bodicote


Park for the finals of the NOSSP Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Final. Once again team Sibford demonstrated some impressive winning tactics and returned home as U11 District Champions.
