Welcome to the January issue

Happy New Year! I do hope you had a lovely Christmas time. It was certainly a time for family and celebration in our household, with the birth of my first grandchild!

January is here again, so there is much talk of New Year’s resolutions and starting afresh in this issue. Star Automotive asks us to think about looking after our cars to ensure a healthy environment whilst travelling (pg2) and Upton Library offers us books to support our efforts (pg8).

Should you have resolved to be more giving this year, Chestnut Nursery is looking for donations towards a new potting shed (pg14) on their redeveloped site, Keep Upton Tidy needs volunteers for the Spring litter pick (pg22) and Margaret Green Animal Rescue (pg34) would like second hand clothes, toys and bric-a-brac to sell in their shops. Also, if you have any wrapping paper, cards and unwanted bits and bobs around the house, the team at Hamworthy Win on Waste are collecting our unwanted items for good causes on Saturday 5th January (and every month). See the full list on page 6.

If you are looking for January bargains, Sturtons & Tappers (pg9) and Poole Lighting (p11) have a winter sale on. If your business does not yet advertise in the Upton Link, why not give us a call. We’d be happy to discuss your options for advertising with us. Other local organisations and charities are also always welcome to get in touch.

Sadly we say thank you and farewell to our vet expert Chris Devlin in this issue (pg19) and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Until next time, Karen In this issue...
