Rebecca Horrocks has been promoted to planning director at planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore. Horrocks, based in Southampton, specialises in complex planning projects across the residential and commercial sectors. She is responsible for leading large multi-disciplinary teams in the preparation and submission of planning applications, including mixed-use sites and commercial developments.


Miller Homes has recruited two new senior planning experts to support its ambitious growth plans. Mark Jackson (right) has joined the award-winning housebuilder as strategic planning director, Midlands and south, while Ben Hatt (left) is now on board as strategic planning manager – south, both based at the company’s Basingstoke office. The pair will work under the leadership of Scott Chamberlin (centre), divisional managing director, strategic land, whose appointment was announced in the summer.


Regional law firm Coffin Mew has welcomed six new trainee solicitors and six new trainee legal assistants to its team. The trainees will be based in Portsmouth and Southampton. They will rotate between departments every six months for two years, gaining expertise in legal specialisms including residential property, commercial property, restructuring and insolvency, clinical and catastrophic injury and Court of Protection. The trainee solicitors are Emma Jones, Danny Dawkins, David Harris, David Gregory, Samantha Kerins and Gurbir Pattar. The trainee legal assistants are Fiona Goodacre, Roshni Korat, Lauren Ward, Fathema Hoque, Ed Glanville and Danielle Heeley.


Dometic has announced the appointment of Julia Tyrrell as the new sales and marketing director for Chichester- based Oceanair Marine. After 15 years working within the manufacturing industry in the marine and automotive sector together with a legal and commercial background, Tyrrell has been with the company nine years in a senior sales and distribution role. She will be responsible for leading the sales and marketing team based at the UK headquarters.


Corporate recovery specialist Begbies Traynor has bolstered its growing team in Southampton with the appointment of a new partner who will head up the business in the city where he will play a pivotal role in developing the firm’s presence along the South Coast. Steve Powell joins Begbies Traynor bringing with him more than 20 years’ experience in business rescue, having also worked at top 10 firms and more recently with a smaller independent practice.

Care South, a leading provider of residential and home-care services across the south of England, has announced the appointment of Simon Bird as the charity’s new chief executive. Bird, who has been with Care South, since 2011– most recently in the role of deputy chief executive – took over on November 1 from outgoing chief executive Susan Willoughby who is retiring.

Leading accountancy firm Wilkins Kennedy has announced the appointment of Geoff Collis to the Newbury office. Collis was previously a partner at the firm’s Portsmouth office. He brings with him more than 35 years’ experience in the business, spending his formative years at an international firm before joining Wilkins Kennedy. He will be key ‘in assisting with the development of the Newbury office and vision for the future of the firm’, it said. Collis specialises in working with owner- managed and family-owned businesses. He supports his clients with day-to-day business advice on strategic matters, working capital and other growth-related matters. He will also be providing more general accounting and taxation support as well as assisting with business development matters both for the UK and those that wish to expand internationally.
