An exciting time to be a part of the Chamber

It is an honour for me as the new CEO of the Chamber to welcome you for the first time to your magazine; inside you will find lots of news, stories and updates from our members across the county, all of whom have exciting things happening. In my role I am privileged to meet amazing people working on diverse projects from small social inclusion schemes to major multi-million pound developments. What they all have in common is not only a passion for their business, but also a desire to improve the community in which we live and work. It is an exciting time for the region too and anyone who doubts that it is not just poised for success but already sprinting out of the blocks must have missed the incredible investment projects and developments around us, evidenced by the cranes you can see almost everywhere you look in our cities. We mustn’t forget our rural communities either, from the small local food producer to the major tourist attractions, who bring huge value to our local economy and showcase our finest assets to the world. The Chamber is here to make conditions better for business. We do this by any means we can: by

lobbying for improved connectivity for the region; hosting events that add value to our members; providing access to training; offering advice on business matters and international trade; and by providing the latest information and updates on a range of subjects from the budget to Brexit. And we are going to do more. In the coming months you will see exciting new developments at the Chamber. We have already moved to new premises from which we can offer improved services (which you are welcome to visit and use) and we are enhancing our range of member benefits, extending our programme of events and forging strategic partnerships that will benefit all our members. So, watch this space. These are exciting times for us all and I can’t wait to take this journey with you.
