Chamber welcomes new Vice Chairs of the Board of Directors

Following on from the recent Board elections announced at the Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting, we are pleased to announce that two of our current directors have also been nominated as Vice Chairs. Congratulations to Donna Barnes and Carolyn Giles who have
now taken up their positions working alongside the current chair, Richard Stevens. Donna Barnes is the founder and Director of the Talem
Recruitment Group which incorporates local agency Astra Recruitment. Having been involved with the vibrant Plymouth business community for over 21 years and through her company, Donna has the ability to get to the heart of Plymouth businesses, understanding the challenges they face and helping champion their successes. four years as well as a trustee for Age UK and Citizens Advice. With excellent connections throughout the city and beyond, she is eager to lend her skills, enthusiasm and expertise to Plymouth businesses. As much as Donna’s heart is in Plymouth, her business gives her the added advantage of being exposed to the national market. This knowledge will be invaluable while the city further establishes itself as an area of commercial excellence.
Carolyn is known for her open and honest approach while ensuring that all business transactions are ethical. She is extremely passionate about Plymouth and focuses on it achieving the potential she knows it has. Carolyn Giles has been a HR professional for over 20 years and has been on the Chamber Board for five years. She has worked in the public sector, run her own business and is now an associate at Kitsons LLP, a Devon based law firm. Carolyn specialises in strategic HR and works with a variety of businesses across the Peninsula covering the public, private, SME, social enterprise and charity sector. As well as the day job, Carolyn chairs the Chestnut Appeal, a charity for men’s health in Devon & Cornwall and is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel &
Development. Stuart Elford, Chamber CEO, said: “It is very encouraging to see the level of support continuing for our long-established directors who provide a very welcome range of expertise and
experience to the Board. “At the same time it is good to see a number of new directors coming on
to the Board who will introduce new perspectives to our thinking. “The Chamber has lots of exciting plans in development, so there’ll be plenty of work for the directors to get their teeth into.”
