Spread a little festive cheer and fundraise

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is the only provider of hospice care to children living with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses in the south west. The charity has three children’s hospices, including Little Harbour in St Austell, which is currently supporting over 120 local children and their families from Plymouth to Penzance. The hospices offer children and families short breaks, respite stays, palliative care, end of life care, bereavement support as well as a dedicated sibling support team. It costs around £3m a year to run Little Harbour, which comes almost

entirely from voluntary donations. At a time of year where families may be facing their last Christmas

together, there are many ways that businesses can get involved with raising vital funds. Instead of sending Christmas cards out to clients, customers, staff and

suppliers, CHSW is offering an e-greetings package. This festive pack includes a poster, e-card, email signatures, social media graphics and website banners all for a one-off donation of just £150. Not only is this an easy and environmentally friendly way to share your Christmas wishes, it also shows your company’s affiliation to a local family focused charity. A great way of getting your staff into the

festive spirit is by taking part in CHSW’s Festive Fashion Friday which is being held on 14 December. Whether you don a Christmas jumper, socks or full Santa suit you will be helping to raise a smile this Christmas. CHSW’s £50 Challenge has sparked a

lot of competition in the business community and this is an opportunity to put a festive twist on the challenge.

22 Chamber Profile November/December 2018 ‘There are

many ways that businesses can

get involved with raising vital funds’

Team’s will be given a

gift of £50 with the challenge of using that money to raise as much extra cash as they can over three months. The money could be raised through a festive tuck shop, selling stocking fillers, offering a present wrapping service to colleagues – any activities that could help grow your £50 as much as possible. If you want to avoid coming back to

work after Christmas and finding a pile of cards left by your colleagues on Christmas Eve, why not request one of CHSW’s Christmas message posters? It’s the perfect way of sending good wishes to colleagues by just writing your Christmas message on the poster displayed for everyone to see and making a small donation when you do so. The Little Harbour team invite you to join them for their Christmas

Business Breakfast networking event on 3 December, a chance to see for yourselves the facilities at Little Harbour while networking with other like- minded individuals. Christmas is a time of year to spend with family, friends and loved ones.

A time of reflection on the year gone by and looking ahead to the future. For the children and families supported by CHSW they are facing a very uncertain future, however with your help and some fun festive fundraising you can help them to create special memories that will last forever.
