North Wiltshire Cluster

During the Spring/Summer term 2018 the North Wilts Sports Cluster has welcomed over 770 primary school children to a variety of active festivals and events such as Hockey, Basketball, Dance, Fundamental Movement Skills, Gymnastics, Tag Rugby Orienteering, Cricket and our own very special Legacy Games.

The Legacy Games happens at Swindon Harriers Track and is an Athletics based festival which dates back to our Mini Olympics in 2012. Over 150 children take part across 13 schools and we always welcome an Elite Athlete to inspire us as well as a mascot, athletics coaches from Harriers and this year we even managed to devour some ice creams. Special mention goes to Broad Town Primary who won the Lower School Athletics.

In addition to our very busy calendar of events this year for the first time ever we organised a Basketball Showcase with over 20 children being coached by South Coast Tigers and Wiltshire Wolves. We also held our very first

Rainbow Shower Event

Following the success of last year’s Rainbow Shower Event, FFC & Lavington School teamed up again to create an even bigger rainbow!

187 young people with additional needs from 15 different schools & colleges across Wiltshire, enjoyed being active with lots of colour on a beautiful sunny day at Lavington School.

Sports Leaders from FFC & Lavington School ensured that everyone was safe, included & had a lot of fun.

Everyone warmed up together & then the real action began! Students could choose to follow the rainbow, parachute into the rainbow clouds or create bubble magic in the rainbow spa. There was something for everyone.

One FFC student became an event reporter for the day. His job was to interview participants (students & staff) & ask them to describe the

event in one word. (picture attached) Words included fabulous, amazing & awesome!!!

This will definitely be an annual event & should be part of every school/colleges sporting calendar. FFC & Lavington School are also organising another Wilts Santa/Elf Dash on Thurs 13th Dec at Fairfield Farm College (10.30-12) £6 per pupil.

Inclusion Day with H5 Adventure. Children tried their hands at team building, bush craft and canoeing.

The North Wilts Sports Cluster continues to grow and develop and cannot wait to get started with another active and healthy year in 2018-19. For further information please contact Phil Smith SSCo psmith@st-sampsons.wilts.sch.uk
