IT IS never too late to make a fresh start by taking up new activities or making new friends. The many clubs and organisations in the Malling Action Partnership area cater for a wide range of in- terests and offer a warm welcome to newcomers, so why not give them a try? Saturday November 17
Everyone is welcome to Light up Larkfield for Christmas from 3.00pm to 5.30pm in Martin Square, Larkfield. With Father Christmas in his grotto with free chocolates for the kiddies, stalls, a free cup of mulled wine for the adults, Brook- field and Lunsford school choirs, community carol singing and the lights switch-on. Fun for all the family.
Sunday November 18
Come along to the East Malling Centre Boot Fair. Doors open from 10am to 1pm at the East Malling Centre, Chapman Way.
Saturday November 24 Join the East Malling Centre Film Club to watch Despicable Me 3 at East Malling Centre, Chapman Way. No need to book and all are welcome. The cost is £2 per adult and children come free. Homemade popcorn, snacks and drinks on sale. Doors open at 2pm ready for 2.30 start.
December 1 – 2
Everyone is welcome to the Christmas Tree Festi- val at St Marys Church in West Malling. The doors open at 12pm to 6pm on Saturday, December 1 and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, December 2.

The East Malling Conservation Group Dinner will be held at the Institute, Mill Street in East Malling. Tickets are £18 per head. Book with
2019. So if you would like your group or event to be included, please send her all the information, including your contact details. Please let her know as far in advance as possible so that it may be possible to avoid clashes and maximise the attendances at each event.

Sunday December 2 The West Malling Christmas Festival will be running between 12pm and 5:30pm, with the lights switching on at 5pm. This is a free event and is a great day for all the family including live entertainment on stage, Santa’s Grotto, tram- poline and carousel, shopping, stalls, crafts and food and drink.

East Malling Christmas Lights at the King and Queen will be running from 3pm to 5pm. Stalls will be available from 3pm, carols from around 4.30 pm and tree lighting ceremony at 5pm.
Sunday December 2
Join the community for the Light up a Life Re- membrance Service between 4.30 to 5.30pm. This is a Heart of Kent Hospice remembrance service at Aylesford Priory, where there will be a candlelit procession, readings and music. West Malling Community Choir will be part of the outdoor service – please wrap up warm! More details can be found on the Heart of Kent Hospice website.
Saturday December 8 The Community Christmas Fair Fun will run from 1pm to 4pm at East Malling Centre, Chapman Way. The Cafe will be open with Christmas themed refreshments and there will also be a
West Malling Parish Council Macey’s Meadow
Applefest Day was not blessed with fine weather this year, however, there was a good turnout and families all enjoyed apple juice and cakes. During Applefest Day the ‘Friends of Macey’s Meadow’ was launched. At present, there is only a small group of volunteers who maintain Macey’s Meadow and organise events on behalf of the Parish Council, which owns the site. To build on the success of the last 20 years, additional urgent help is needed. If you enjoy this lovely Meadow, have particular skills and are able to give up some time, please contact the Clerk on 01732 870872 or via email at clerk@
westmallingpc.org for more information. To get an idea of the work done why not join one of the Macey’s Meadow working party days? Taking place on Saturdays November 17 and December 1, 15, and 29, running between 10am and noon. Tools are
cake stall. It is set to be a fun and informative family occasion where children can write letters to Santa. The event is open to all residents and the wider community.

The Christmas by Candlelight Concert will start at 5pm at St Mary’s Church in West Malling. West Malling Community Choir is joining together with Malling RC Primary School and West Malling Church of England Primary School. Tickets will be available from any choir member, from the schools or on the door at £5 for adults with school age children free. We will have a collection for Spadework and the National Glaucoma Society.

Tennis Lessons
Child tennis coaching is still available at the Norman Road Playing Fields. Jim and his team lead hourly sessions for young beginners to players wanting to improve their skills. If you are interested, contact Jim Barton on 07803 368450, jimtennis@yahoo. com or online at

Allotments A plot at the Ryarsh Lane allotments could be made suitable for any local society that
would need the convenience of working at raised beds.

West Malling Christmas Lights Festival This will take place December 2. The High Street will have numerous stalls and activities for children from noon until 5pm when the lights will be switched on. The event is being staged and organised by Heart of Kent Hospice.
October Litter Pick A big thank you to the volunteers who turned out to assist with the October litter pick; we had 14 volunteers including help from Tesco West Malling.
