One of the win-
ning foals and a potential stallion candidate, Code Breaker HS by Cachas (Caretino x Corrado I, stem 4847) out of Vision VI, a states pre- mium mare by Cas- sini x Heraldik xx x Landgraf stem 474a, was bred by Vicky Castegren. Te hope is that this colt can carry on the legacy of the successful stallion Cachas. Te early death of this athletic Caretino son is much regretted in Holstein. Two offspring by Cachas showed great strength and movement and were named premium foals.
Champion mare Hermione M-S by Concerto Grosso, is owned and bred by Rosemarie Merle-Smith.
Quebec Te mares and foals from Canada were presented to the commission at Le Haras des Saules in Calixa- Lavallee by site host Karine Belliard. Te champion mare at this site was Bossa Nova EDA (Campesino/ Capitol I x Celebes), owned by Jade Buchanan. Te best stallion foal was Rocky Montana (Conelly/Con- certo II). Other foals and yearlings were presented by Francis Berger at South Shore Farm in Mont-Saint- Hillaire.
E In summary, the tour of all the approval sites can
once again be rated as a success. Te Holsteiner Ver- band is extremely grateful to the American and Cana- dian breeders for their loyalty to the Holsteiner horse and for their passion for breeding. Particularly pleasing is the quality of the Holsteiners in North America. Breeders have managed to breed from the limited avail- able genetics an excellent Holsteiner horse. By providing help from Germany, we want to sup-
port the breeders in North America to expand their breeding programs and to improve the awareness of the Holsteiner breed nationwide. We would like to thank the breeders who have remained loyal to the Holsteiner Verband in Germany even after the change of leader- ship. We hope to meet many new friends in America through their membership with the Holsteiner Ver- band and through future approval tours. v
