Ital and Eurobridge have high hopes for Malta service
Manchester based groupage and forwarding operator Ital Logistics is to launch a new service to Malta in conjunction with its new partner on the island, EuroBridge Shipping Services. It will operate at least twice- weekly with departures
from
the UK every Tuesday (or Wednesday morning) and Thursday arriving in Malta the following Monday and Thursday
goods through France apply from midday Saturday to 2200hrs Sunday, as opposed to normal driving restrictions of Sundays only and speed limits are 10mph lower.) All other departures can carry dangerous goods. The service operates via Milan
where cargoes from the rest of Europe are consolidated and loaded. However, Ital managing director Phil Denton says: “We are
Maltese companies promoting their wares. A 6% growth rate in 2017 - and it doesn’t look like it is slowing - as well as during the last couple of years developing good relations became the catalyst for deciding to put Malta on the Ital agenda. We see Malta as an opportunity, particularly with our niche in dangerous goods.” EuroBridge Shipping has just
secured a new 34,000sq ſt facility which it will occupy by the end of 2018 including a new warehouse building. Denton adds: “We have known
respectively, and with deliveries the same day or the day aſter throughout the main island of Malta.
A Friday departure from the UK is also available but in order to meet
the departure from
Milan on Monday, it is restricted to normal goods so excludes dangerous goods as a general rule. (Driving bans on dangerous
extremely hopeful that sooner rather than later trailers from the UK will go direct to Malta without any transhipment in Milan.” He adds: “We have noticed
that despite the general mood in logistics in recent years, spirits are high and not as gloomy as many suggest. Reading FBJ recently, one couldn’t help but notice the positivity and the number of
David Abela at EuroBridge for several years, and have quietly admired his fresh approach to freight forwarding. Like us, he is an optimist in what has been of late, a pessimist’s paradise. So it was with our pleasure that he readily agreed to work more closely with us, enabling us to build Malta as its own service, committing to providing a guaranteed twice- weekly minimum service between the northern half of the UK and Malta.”
Leman moves to new HQ
Danish-owned forwarding and distribution specialist Leman has moved its UK headquarters to a refurbished 108,500sq ſt warehouse in Normanton, near Leeds. It is managed by third party warehousing firm Onward Holdings, which specializes in competitively priced industrial warehousing England.
in the north of Leman said the new site offered
10,000sqſt of high-quality office space and excellent links to the region’s motorway network. The unit offers plenty of loading space with 12 covered dock bays and there is a large parcel of land adjacent to the building for future expansion. Leman UK managing director, Jesper Thygesen, said: “We chose
Normanton mainly for its ideal size and configuration as well as its strategic distribution location. We were merging two depots so being able to bring all our staff under the one roof was brilliant. The location close to Junction 31 of the M62 was another attraction. We send all of our trailers out of Hull and Immingham, so it’s great to be have easy access to those ports.”
Europa Road has set up a dedicated Nordic Hub in Leeds to better serve Northern UK customers for its services to Scandinavia and Finland. It offers direct services via Immingham and Hull to Oslo, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Copenhagen and Helsinki. Sales director, Dionne Redpath,

Shipping line CMA CGM is increasing its shareholding in Ceva Logistics, aſter the latter rejected an advance by rival logistics firm DSV. It followed CMA
CGM’s
announcement in April that it was buying a 25% share in Ceva Logistics in April, a deal which also allowed it to nominate two members to Ceva’s board. At the time, CMA CGM said it would limit its stake in Ceva to 25% until 5 November, but this limit was also raised in October to up to one third. Later, on 24 October, Ceva said
it had received a non-binding offer from DSV of CHF30 per share.
