Pitch Perfect
Situated on the ‘windy’ bit of the north-west coast of England, Southport Football Club is but a stone’s throw from many more famous clubs, yet has a long history all of its own. It has designs on joining its near neighbours by regaining football league status after a forty year absence. P72
2018 ‐ a most difficult year
Dave Saltman has written a few articles about the work carried out at Shrewsbury Town FC over the last few years. Generally, as an industry, he says, we all manage to cope with what’s thrown at us; a combination of usage, environment and aspect limitations and, of course, the weather. P80

TRAINING Stressed out!
For many people, work related stress can become an unbearable burden. All too often we feel we must just keep our heads down and carry on with the job in hand, despite knowing deep down that we are struggling. Peter Britton suggests that this can often lead to tragic consequences should it go unrecognised and untreated. P128
Extro, Intro or Ambi?
Trainer Frank Newberry has long believed that turfcare sector employers like their supervisors to be as good, if not better, at communicating than they are at gardening, greenkeeping or groundsmanship. Good technical skills seem to be less important at this higher level. It is best, of course, when supervisors have both social and technical skills. P132
