Sports Park The income deficitwas discussed and itwas noted that the sports park commi�eewould be discussing the budget at its nextmeeting. Ice rink Itwas agreed to delegate to the clerk the booking of an ice rink for the Christmas holidays to a budget of £15,000.

Trees Cllr Storeywas thanked for cu�ing back the trees so that the road signs from the village hallwere visible. Bus timetables CllrMcKinlay brought up problemswith the bus service. Buses run every two hours, the first at 9.15amwhen bus passes could not be used until 9.30am. The poor return servicemeant that residents might have just half an hour before having to get a bus back to the village. CllrHohler suggestedwriting to CllrMike Whiting at KCC to ask for an extension of the use of bus passes in areaswhere service was poor. Itwas also suggested that there would be no need for that amount of extra sand, as there had been an application for an increase at an existing sand quarry. Workhouse Road Itwas agreed that the Parish Council could not afford the quote to provide boulders. CllrMcKinlaywould write toGallaghers and ask themto reconsider.Gallaghers had initially placed the boulders to protect their land, and had subsequently removed them. The parish council believes the boulderswere useful to protect the land andwildlife. Residents Councillors considered given the advice by the TMBC regarding the increase in residents in the village, and it appeared a lot ofworkwould be needed to increase the number of parish councillors. The aimwas to get someone fromthe Brickworks Estate to join the council, but even if a councillor could be recruited, therewas no guarantee that someone fromthe estatewould stand. Itwas agreed to take no further action. Highways Itwas reported that signs installed by RedrowinOld School Lane were in thewrong place and thewording was not useful. Cllr Peddiewas to establish what signs should say andwhere they should be located. Churchyard Itwas reported the churchyard was looking untidy. The clerkwas asked to find outwhen gardeningwould take place. Overgrown vegetation FootpathMR150 was still overgrown. Itwas reported that vegetation around the Ryarsh signwas coming fromthe Birling sign. Itwas reported that trees growing around the streetlight outsideGodfreys had been cut back. Recreation ground The football teamhad asked that the pitches be re-marked.


Wateringbury


Welcome signs The chairman confirmed the newWelcome toWateringbury signs had been installed. Crossroads Cllr Balfour discussed the proposed alterations.Members of the public were concerned that the proposalswould mean that trafficwould flowfaster.A Wateringbury TrafficGroup had been formed,with 214members communicating via Facebook. Somemembers of the public


were concernedwith the alterations to the crossroads. Speed cameras Cllr Balfour said cameras would be installed according to the accident record for the area. The chairman said the last accident recorded at the traffic lights was in 2011. Cllr Balfour also pointed out that traffic-calmingmeasures could not be used onA-roads, but Cllr Stones referred himtoHadlow,where therewas traffic calming on theA26. Speedwatch SarahHudson asked that the Speedwatch teamrecord the number of speeding vehicles over a longer period of time.DavidMerry, Speedwatch co- ordinator, said anyone other than his team who used the equipmentwould not be covered by insurance. The chairman felt the Speedwatch teamadequately covered the number of speeding vehicles the first time. Pollution Pollutionmonitoring equipment was installed. Drug problemAmember of the public called the policewhen suspected drug- takerswere on the playing field. Police said theywould send a squad car, but it did not arrive. Thiswould be reported to the PCSO. Play equipment Safeplay had estimated it would cost £485 to replace one of the cradle swings in the top play areawith a swing seat. Itwas agreed to accept this. Pavilion The insurance of the pavilionwas discussed, and itwas agreed that the council would continue to cover the insurance. It would be put to John Ibbs that the Sports and RecreationalAssociation should pay 50%of the premiumin September. Local Plan The chairman reported that TMBCwould have to revisit the plan as an extra 630 homeswere needed. The final planwas duewith the Secretary of State by the end of the year.He said that Broadwater Farmhad been sold for 1,100 homes. Bins The bins at the playing fieldwere reported to be overflowing. SpeedAmember of the publicwas concerned about the speed atwhich cars were using the track to the playing fields and felt children could be at risk. Lier The chairman thanked the Friends of Wateringbury for their efforts in clearing li�er,weeds and rubbish in the village.
