Essential Spotlight
Blending Ancient Herbal Wisdom & Modern CBD W
e recently sat down with Kelly Benson, owner of Mind- ful Earth, to fi nd out why she started her business and to learn more about what products she offers.
1. Why are you passionate about your specialty or industry?
Herbal medicine has changed my
life. In 2012, I began to transition out of an unhealthy lifestyle. I had been using
pharmaceutical medication for 15 years to deal with depression and anxiety. Once I transitioned to plant-based medicine, I fell in love with the products and I realized I wanted to keep learning about herbal medicine and help others with it as well.
2. What sets you apart from other practitioners/businesses in the holistic fi eld?
I am a trained herbalist so I incorporate other herbs into my products to double the potency and quality of my products. I also use local ingredients from Maine, such as alcohol and beeswax, because I believe in keeping my business as close to the community as possible. Other larger scale companies don't put the same quality and care into their product and often over charge for it.
3. What can buyers expect from your product? Each product has my hand-drawn logo and the products are
always the highest quality. I also offer an array of products from skin and body care to medicinal and internal medicine. The most popu- lar ones are the pain pal elixir for chronic pains and the cool calm elixir for anxiety.
4. What plans do you have for the future of your practice/business?
I am working on expanding our online presence and getting more products on our Mindful Earth website. In the future, I hope Mindful Earth can contribute to community outreach and provide low cost natural healing products to people in rehab or addiction recovery.
5. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner or business owner.
Some people are surprised the products actually work and it’s
rewarding to support people with products I have created, especial- ly because the product physically, mentally and emotionally makes people feel better in their everyday life.
