BUNGAY BOWLS CLUB
Though the exact date of the formation of the club is widely believed to be 1898, there is documentary evidence that the club was in existence by 1886. The club is based in Bardolph Road with a reasonably up-to-date pavilion and some parking facilities. It is the only outdoor sports club located within the town. Though the green is council-owned the club are responsible for its upkeep. The outdoor bowling season runs from May to the end of September and there are around five matches a week being played. The club enters teams in local leagues, and county wide cup competitions. Members can also enter county com- petitions which if successful could lead to appearances in the national finals at Leamington Spa or Skegness. For those with less experience the club competi-
tions between members may be a good first step. There are also opportunities to play in friendly matches against clubs from around the UK or to raise funds for charities. The Club has been relatively successful during its long history and has won cup ti- tles at County level as well as local league titles and cups. The club welcomes new, novice and experienced bowlers and has a Level 1 qualified coach to instruct prospective bowlers or to assist existing bowlers with all aspects of their game. Currently the club has around forty play- ing members. For further information please visit the club’s website
