in 1970, is an equestrian organization which promotes recreational trail riding and the creation, development, preservation and safe use of trails.
“The hardest part of
riding....is the ground....” The Dufferin Forest Fun-D Ride was aptly named. We raised funds, a little
over (1,000.00) and we had fun,( incalculable). The ride hosts, Elaine Wiesner and Linda Fell worked tirelessly to ensure that the annual fundraiser was a total blast from start to finish. Linda’s husband Bill, “was the man”. “Winner, winner chicken dinner”, Bill’s pulled chicken was toothsome. The entire meal was delish from the salads, potatoes, pork, pies, cake, coffee, and cold drinks. We want to thank Linda and Elaine again. You guys are the greatest. Auctioneer Ron Keeler was a laugh riot and got the crowd involved, bidding and of course laughing. Elaine Wiesner outbid everyone to take home the picnic cooler and horse treats generously donated by Greenhawk. The fun didn’t end after the auction. We gathered around cowboy crooner, Gord Wiesner, as he sere- naded us. Even the weatherman cooperated. Lots of riding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Fantastic weekend! Helmut’s Vivian Forest ride was dry and sunny Friday and most of Saturday.
The much needed rain came on Sunday. The campers were not discouraged or disap- pointed. Any weekend at Helmut’s with good friends and your horse is a gift. The newest member of the Ontario Trail Riders made his debut at this ride. Bismarck, Car- oline Fell’s, Beauceron puppy. He is a charmer! “If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”
