1970’s continuedwith amore relaxed style to the trendwith floral crowns and shear veils draped over the top. By the 1980s, the bigger the
better! We sawPrincessDiana’s mammoth veil setting the trend for awhole generation of brides. Her amazing veilwas 24 feet long but the perfect length tomake a dramatic statement as she entered St Paul’s cathedral. (surely the longest andmost
recognisable style in the history ofwedding veils!) MeghanMarklewowed us all
when she arrived at the royal wedding. That simple, elegant dress. And, of course, that
veil.At fivemetres long, the veil isquite the statement piece, giving a subtle nod toDiana’s extra-long train on her wedding. Meghan asked to have all 53
countries of theCommonwealth represented on her veil, with each
country’s flowers hand- embroidered in silk threads and
organza.Workers fromGivenchy spent hundreds of hours sewing the designs, washing their hands every thirtyminutes to keep the tulle and threads pristine. Each flower had to be unique and detailed. So howwill youwear yours?!
