new version of the popular Alligator mobile handling system aims to make it easier to treat and sort of large groups of sheep. Launched by Allfl ex, the Al- ligator Pro features a number of design improvements which en- hance the system’s ease of opera- tion and improves the movement of sheep through the system. It was launched at last month’s Roy- al Welsh Show. The Alligator Pro features larg- er diameter wheels for improved road holding and better off-road clearance. It adds a manual or elec- tric winch capable of easily raising and lowering the steel chassis on and off its wheels to further en- hance mobility. “Like previous Alligator sys-
tems, the Alligator Pro uses a modular design which can easily be tailored to suit individual fl ock requirements,” says Chris Byrne, Allfl ex’s stock management sys- tems specialist.
“The winch-operated chassis is handmade in Oxford, with produc- tion of the new-style hurdles and gates moving to a specialist fab- ricator, making the new Alligator PRO longer-lasting, harder-wear- ing and more durable than ever before. “We’ve listened to feedback from a number of existing Alliga- tor users and made some subtle but key design improvements to create a strong yet lightweight system which can be operated by a single user to handle and treat large groups of sheep.”
The updated system features redesigned hurdles which retain the original Alligator’s round-pro- fi le corners – for ease of pulling groups of hurdles over rough ground. Upright bars between the upper and second rails improve the fl ow of sheep through the system. also compatible with a choice of manual or electronic fl ock man- agement, recording and weighing equipment to worm, drench, foot bathe, weigh, sort, tag and vacci- nate large numbers of sheep.
