THOUSANDS of people flocked to The Green in Bearsted for the annual Bearsted & Thurnham Carnival and Fayre on June 30.
In baking hot sunshine, crowds
lined the streets as the procession made its way from Madginford to Bearsted. Organisers, who had been faced
with the last-minute headache of fencing off the area to comply with Maidstone Borough Council’s li- cencing rules, said the event had been a “huge success”. PatMarshall said: “We had glori-
ous sunshine and a fantastic crowd turned up. It was all we could have hoped for and more. It was a huge success. “It is a testament to the tremen-
dous hardwork of themany volun- teers and participants that made it the success itwas.” This year’s prize-winnerswere:
