Spitfire joins the party to mark 40th castle concert
THE audience has been thanked for making the spectacular 40th Leeds Castle classical concert a party to remember. About 12,500 people turned out
in the sun on Saturday, July 14, many of them in 1970s style dress to celebrate this year’s 40th an- niversary classical concert. As temperatures soared, the
waving of Union Jacks kept every- one cool and in high spirits for the Royal Philharmonic Concert Or- chestra’s rousing programme of patrioticmusic. The Band of the Grenadier
Guards, which had already per- formed at Windsor Castle in the morning for Her Majesty the Queen and President Trump, marched from the castle to the stage, providing an impressive spectacle in their red regalia. John Rigby, who conducted and

said: “Everything fell into place – a perfect celebration of aKent classic. The choreography of guns, fire- works, orchestra, soloists and band made this one to remember.” A charitable collection made at
the event will go this year to the ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which supports soldiers, veterans and their families. Tickets for next year’s concert, on Saturday, July 13, are nowon sale.
