Gwyneth Paltrow

and Chris Martin Ever wonder why the American actress and British Coldplay singer named their daughter Apple? Paltrow explained it on the Oprah show. Here are her exact words. ‘Right, well, um, basically it

was because when we were first pregnant, her daddy said, if it’s a girl I think her name should be Apple. And I just, it sounded so sweet, and it conjures such a lovely picture for me, you know apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical and it’s just, they’re so, and I just thought it sounded so lovely and….’ Nope, me neither.

Bob Geldof and Paula Yates Fifi Trixibelle. Peaches Honeyblossom. Little Pixie. See above…. (Paula wasn’t done with the names even when she and Geldof divorced. Her fourth child – her daughter with Aussie singer, Michael Hutchence - was to be named Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily!)

Katie Price and Peter Andre There was some thought that went into daughter Princess Tiaamii Crystal Esther’s name. Katie had always wanted to call her daughter Princess, but Peter wanted to name her after both his mum and Katie. As a result, Thea and Amy were merged to create the rather colourful Tiaamii.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban The Oprah show was also the venue for actress Nicole Kidman to explain why she and hubby Keith Urban had named their daughter Sunday. Sunday Roast no less. No, I’m kidding, it’s Sunday Rose (although, in light of some of the other names on these pages, it could have been!). Anyway, Kidman told Oprah that they’d named their daughter after a day of the week because ‘Sunday, that’s our favourite day. Because I think there’s something to do with Sundays where, if you’re lonely, Sundays are a very lonely day. And, if you’re happy and you’ve got your family and the things around you, then Sunday’s a beautiful day. So our baby’s called Sunday.’ So that’s clear then…
