SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL Get ready to rock, Orange County! Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man who

brought rock and romance to Broadway is back with a new heart-stirring hit. Based on the 2003 hit film of the same name,School of Rock – The Musical is an uproarious show that follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher in a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-size prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within. This high-octane, production includes 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie. Plus, Broadway’s first-ever, kids rock band, playing their instruments live on stage.School of Rock rolls in to Segerstrom Center for the ArtsTuesday, July 24 through Sunday, August 5. THE TWENTIETH-CENTURY WAY Tom Jacobson’sThe Twentieth-Century Way explores a dark chapter in the history of LGBT rights. It’s based on the 1914 true story of two out-of-work actors who came up with an idea to make money by posing as gay men. They would hire themselves out to the Long Beach, CA’s Police Department to entrap “social vagrants” in public restrooms. As these two actors become absorbed within their play-within-a-play, they explore sexual identity, institutional corruption, self-deception, and the mysteries of the craft of the theatre. The Twentieth-Century Way is a highly theatrical tour-de-force which brings to life a little-known episode in Long Beach history and will be on stageFriday, July 20 through Saturday, August 18 at Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theatre. Its timely look at another time, warns of the dangers of a government infringing on the private right to love. Warning: This Production contains adult content and nudity.
