THE RAGE MONTHLY’S FAVORITE PRIDE EVENTS:

which can be based on prior experiences at the party. If it’s my first time, I’ll do some research to see what DJs have played there to get an idea of what type of thing I think will work. I compile a folder of music I’d like to play, and similar to the days of vinyl, I put them in an order that I imagine I’d like to play them. I rarely follow that order when I start to play, but it’s helpful to refer to it. One of the advantages of playing on Traktor [DJ software package] on my laptop is I can refer back to previous sets. If I suddenly think, “What did I play last week that really worked after this song?” I can find it instantly. Have you ever played in San Diego before? What are you most looking forward to? I have, but it’s been quite a few years now. I

played at Voyeur and On Broadway. This is the first gay event I’ve done though, so I’m excited about that. I’m most looking forward to parties like the one I did last night. It felt like the whole club was bouncing to the same beat. Such great energy: hands in the air, smiles all around and a sexy vibe. You just can’t beat it when that happens. I live for these moments!
