My name i Matj and I relocated with my husband to London from the Czech Republic about six months ago. I moved to the company’s head of-
fice in London and my husband followed me to live here with me. For both of us London was not an unknown city. We both had been here many times before. We knew London relatively well and back home we had many friends among the Brits so settling down and finding quickly a job for my husband seemed to be quite easy and realistic.

Te truth is that despite the fact we are in Europe, the UK is a foreign country and some cultural differences didn’t make our landing here very soft. Te highly knowl- edgeable and cooperative team helped us to find all information needed for our quick integration and directed my husband in the way of finding a new job. But most im- portantly FOCUS helped us to meet new friends and professionals from our busi- ness areas. Te team has a great network of events where you can meet a lot of interesting people and attend a variety of art and cultural events, which in my case is a perfect match so we were soon enjoying life in London on our own. Trough FOCUS we were able to visit the preview and part of the collection of the Rockefeller auction at Christie’s, as well as BADA arts and antiques fair, Te Other Art Fair, and others – all this usually with a glass of champagne. Tese events were very exclusive and thanks to FOCUS we were able, for example, to see some pieces from Rockefeller art collection that haven’t been seen before. I encourage everyone to go for a cultural event at least every other month because London is so rich in this as- pect and you will never get tired of it.
Meeting inspiring people and establishing valuable business connections is essential for finding a new job in a foreign country. I am very happy my company provided us with a membership to FOCUS, a truly welcoming place that builds its success on connecting people and helping them settle in a fascinating city.
