In cohousing, neighbors know each other before they move in and build close relationships creating and maintaining their community together. The main ingredients of cohousing include individually owned homes, a common house shared by all, a pedestrian center and egalitarian governance. Cohousing provides the privacy we are accustomed to with the connections we seek.

Bethany. It will be the fi rst in Connecticut. The community’s future residents care deeply about the health of the planet; they are commit- ted to green building and sustainable living. The homes are oriented toward the sun for passive solar heating. The common house will have a commercial kitchen and a large gathering space for shared meals, a large wood working shop, and other shared facilities. Organic and permaculture principles will be used in the yards, community gar- dens, orchards, ponds and farm. Edible landscaping—for people and wildlife—is a major theme.

Lynne and the team of therapists at Natural Balance provide therapeutic massages for all types of injuries and chronic pain, as well as couples, pre-natal, refl exology and relax- ation massage. “We love that our clientele is diverse. Natural Balance encourages those new to massage therapy to try a couples massage. Lynne provides an affordable solution for clients who want to use regular massage for self care. The monthly membership is very popu- lar; a 60 minute membership is just $66 a month. Members receive discounts on products, add on services and gift certifi cates. There is no contract, and unused monthly sessions roll over so there is no risk.
