ACTIVITIES
MAKE YOUR OWN BINOCULARS
Thanks to the lovely team at Morden Hall Park for giving us these instructions. They run great craft activities for kids throughout the summer holidays so make sure you check our What’s On listings for all the details. But you don’t need to wait for their events, you can make these binoculars and head to the wetlands for a great day out whenever you want.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
1. Pick up two black sheets of paper, apply glue only on one side, roll the paper and hold it for a few seconds.
2. Cut two 4” squares of cellophane and round off the corners with your scissors.
3. Place a piece of cellophane over one end of the tube, hold it in place and secure with a rubber band.
4. Pick up two strips of coloured paper, wrap the strips around the end of the tube with the cellophane and glue them. It will give the binoculars a neater look.
5. With a stapler, join the two tubes together. 6. Pick up a strip of coloured paper to wrap around the binoculars and glue it around the joined tubes.
7. Use your hole punch to make holes at the sides of each roll and tie a piece of string/ yarn long enough to go over your child’s head to each end. That’s it! Your binoculars are complete!
