WHAT’S ON TOP TIP:

rope swings and show the best ways to climb a tree. For children aged seven plus.

For younger children, local mum Ausra Linkeviciute is launching a new nature based programme on Wimbledon Common this summer. Timbernook aims to get kids out, using the environment as the inspiration for creative play. The programme runs this August.

Mini Engineers The Science Museum is one of our all-time favourites with lots of maths, engineering and natural world science displays. The queues can be long during the summer holidays but it is worth it once you’re inside.

The London Transport Museum is offering different engineering themes for each week of the holidays this summer. Whether you choose Buses and Power or Circuit Trails, it is one of the most child-friendly museums in London.

London Transport are also opening up their Acton Depot for their first ever family-friendly open weekend 7-8 July. Adults £12, children £10. Book online to guarantee your place.

Brooklands Museum should also be on your list this summer to inspire little ones with aircraft engineering, fast cars and mini train rides. You can check out their full range of activities on page 17.

TOP TIP:

The Thames Ditton Miniature Railways runs once a month on the first Sunday of the month and the August bank holiday. It is entirely run by volunteers and rides are just £2 each.

Try the Wimbledon Common Nature Club which runs on the first Sunday of every month at 10am. The club is for children aged six plus and starts from the Information Centre at 10am. Contact Auriel Glanville at auriel. glanville@btopenworld. com for more information.
