WHAT’S ON LOVE YOUR LIBRARY


Local libraries are always a great way to occupy kids but they are even better during the summer holidays. In addition to the range of activities and events that the libraries run for families, the annual Summer Reading Challenge will take place during the school holidays.


The challenge is national and is designed to encourage children to keep reading during the school holidays, when reading can dip. Children aged 4-11 are encouraged to read six books with a prize awarded for each book.

For those of us in Merton, there will also be the added draw of children’s workshops on subjects such as Fun with Phonics, Telling the Time or Superhero Shapes. The workshops are being run in conjunction with Explore Learning and Polka Theatre at different libraries across the borough. The workshops start from 31 July and run through August.


Workshops are free but you need to reserve a place. Pop into your local library for more information or go to www.merton.gov.uk.
