EQUIPMENT REVIEW 17

Elegant polyethylene service pedestal A

ccording to reports, the new FIN pedestal from Rolec Services Ltd will represent another leap

forward in marina services solutions, with its design pushing the boundaries of flare and creativity. The FIN pedestal introduces

long, clean, slender lines and a classic elegance, accentuated by a highly imaginative lighting scheme. As with Rolec’s other marina

pedestal ranges, the FIN features complete electricity, water and lighting segregation. It also introduces a unique thermos- encapsulating fixing point system, further enhancing the method and importance of complete segregation.

Other unique features of FIN

include its sophisticated, cathedral- style twin lighting design, which subtly illuminates the electricity

and water services and offers both a sense of grandeur and elegance, as well as achieving its primarily function to safely illuminate marina walkways.

In addition to the pedestal’s

eye-catching design, another major advance is its spectacular new secondary lighting option. This innovative feature introduces a new dimension to marina illumination

Buoy for marking rivers

The latest development in marine aids to navigation for marking rivers was presented by Almarin at the prestigious quadrennial conference of the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) at Inchon, South Korea.

The company’s innovative buoy,

which works as a fixed and floating mark, is designed for rivers or channels with a large amplitude of water level (the change between peak and trough), whilst maintaining a high precision when water levels are low. This product was developed by Almarin in conjunction with the Port Authority of Douro e Leixões (APDL) and Instituto Hidrográfico de Portugal. Almarin also presented its new

AtoN catalogue, which introduces a wide range of marine aids to navigation, including beacons and towers for ports, lantern rooms and solutions for the marking of bridges and structures under navigation channels. Almarin info@almarin.es www.almarin.es

and enables Rolec to offer its clients a variety of computer-controlled, on-demand lighting effects never before seen in the marina industry. Some of the co-ordinated marina- wide lighting displays already available via FIN include: Twinkling Star, which offers a touch of theatre and glamour to any marina; Colour Maze, a synchronised, low-ambient, colour changing canopy; and Light

Show, which provides a subtle, yet entertaining, programmable light display. Although the launch of FIN

has rightly placed a good deal of emphasis on its modern, streamlined appearance and its dramatic lighting options, Rolec has maintained the manufacturer’s high engineering standards in respect of the marina industry’s essential requirements for UV stability, ingress protection certification and impact resistance. Once installed, these characteristics guarantee the pedestal’s strength, durability and longevity. The FIN range also includes

pedestals for emergency services, sanitation pump-out and electric vehicle charging. Rolec Services Ltd rolec@rolecserv.co.uk www.rolecserv.com
