Refurbishments for TMP washing stage at Hallsta mill
H
olmen Paper, part of the Holmen Group in Sweden, has engaged Andritz to
refurbish and install dewatering equipment for a new thermo- mechanical pulp (TMP) washing stage on the PM12 line at Hallstavik. Basic engineering, erection as
well as commissioning and start- up, which is scheduled for the final quarter of 2018, are also part of the order. Andritz will refurbish two used twin wire presses and relocate an existing Andritz pulp screw press. After re-installation as the TMP washing stage, the dewatering equipment will
improve the pulp quality, thus ensuring higher product quality of book paper and newsprint grades. The order includes:
Refurbishment of two used Andritz twin wire presses; Relocation and overhaul of an existing Andritz pulp screw press used in the former deinking
plant at Hallsta paper mill; Installation of a new conveyor for pulp dilution and shredding after washing; and the rebuild and relocation of two existing screw conveyors. After completion of the
project, the mill will be operating 14 Andritz twin wire presses.
Sepac’s tissue capacity expansion in Brazil
Brazilian tissue maker Sepac has started up the new TM6 line at its Mallet plant in Paraná. Supplied by Voith Paper, the XcelLine production line first went into service at the end of 2017 and with a design speed of 2,000 m/min has capacity to produce 110 metric tons a day.
Voith supplied the complete tissue machine, including a MasterJet Pro T headbox, a CrescentFormer, a NipcoFlex T shoe press, an EvoDry Y steel Yankee cylinder, a high-efficiency EcoHood T hood and a MasterReel winder. The project also included the ancillary systems, automation
systems, as well as installation supervision, commissioning and start-up assistance. The project’s main features are the NipcoFlex T shoe press and its 4.8-metre steel Yankee cylinder, which in addition to ensuring higher speed and quality, enables Sepac’s machine to make 20 per
cent energy savings. The project is part of a growth
strategy at Sepac, which manufactures tissue paper from virgin cellulose fibres and is planning to increase its annual capacity to 180,000 tons, making it one of the country’s largest tissue manufacturers.
