Law firm B P Collins has announced that Ed Monniot, a specialist in property development and Janine Gibbs who is experienced in a wide range of commercial property transactions will be promoted to senior associates. The promotions in the property practice group, headquartered in Gerrards Cross, come after a strong year advising on more than 1,000 matters, of which a quarter had a transaction value of over £1 million. Meanwhile, 20% of its client base were new clients. The team has also been shortlisted in the Property Law firm of the Year category at the Thames Valley Property Awards. Hannah King will also be promoted to senior associate in the employment practice and Raj Malhotra will become an associate in the dispute resolution team.


Blandy & Blandy LLP’s award-winning commercial property team has welcomed solicitors Rachel Swan (centre right) and Geena-Mae Bucknall (right), while Olivia Foster (centre left) has been promoted to become a legal assistant. One of the largest in the Thames Valley, the team features three partners, one associate solicitor, four solicitors and a legal assistant. Swan said: “I am thrilled to join Blandy & Blandy’s team, which has a longstanding reputation in the region and beyond. KPMG has appointed an experienced director to lead the growth of its R&D tax practice across the Thames Valley and wider south region. Rakesh Lad joins from Deloitte where he spent 11 years in a similar role. Lad is a qualified chartered engineer and is one of a handful of R&D tax advisers in the UK that combines a strong technology background with extensive experience in the specialist field of R&D tax services.


Specialist commercial law firm Clark Holt Commercial Solicitors has recently announced several new senior appointments. Senior associate James Thorpe becomes a partner in its corporate team with effect from May 1. He specialises in company acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, demergers, investments, fundraisings, shareholders agreements and corporate governance matters. Karron Whitter returns to the firm as a partner in the firm’s real-estate department with effect from May 1. She specialises in commercial property matters. Belinda Walters (who was previously senior solicitor, legal and business affairs at Sky) and Georgia Shriane (who previously worked at a large national law firm) have joined the firm in recent months as senior associates in the commercial/IT team.

RSM, the advisory and accountancy firm, has appointed John Taylor as regional managing partner for the southern region. Taylor was previously office managing partner for the Guildford and Southampton offices. He takes over the regional role from Elfed Jarvis. Chris Hurren becomes office managing partner for Guildford and Paul Anthony takes up the role in Southampton. Taylor is a partner in RSM’s employer solutions team that specialises in employment taxes matters, tax-efficient remuneration planning, share option scheme advice and set up, international tax planning, HR and recruitment together with payroll bureau services. In addition Taylor looks after a portfolio of clients from those in the mid-market through to large UK and multinational plcs, with a specialism in the recruitment sector.


National law firm Shoosmiths continues to expand its expertise in contentious trusts and probate with the recruitment of Angela Bowman, who will be based at the firm’s Thames Valley office. A partner with her previous firm, Freeths (formerly Henmans), Bowman will head up Shoosmiths’ specialist wills and trusts disputes team in the South of England.


Leading Basingstoke law firm Lamb Brooks has announced the appointment of Rob Parker, who joins the firm as an associate to strengthen the family department. Parker has over 10 years’ experience as a family law solicitor resolving a wide range of matters, including cohabitation, divorce and separation and children matters. He has a particular specialism in addressing complex financial matters when it comes to relationship breakdown, often involving valuable properties, business interests, pensions, inheritance, trusts and overseas assets. Parker understands that working as a family lawyer isn’t always about the ending of relationships, but also about joining and creating families too. He therefore also regularly advises on cohabitation agreements, pre/post nuptial agreements, change of name deeds and the documentation needed for getting married abroad.
