Blandy & Blandy ranked among top 20 planning law firms in the UK

Blandy & Blandy LLP has been ranked among the top 20 firms for planning law in the UK in Planning magazine’s 2018 Planning Law Survey

Ranked joint 20th, Blandy & Blandy has risen from 28th in last year’s rankings.

Partner and team head Karen Jones commented: “With the largest dedicated planning and environmental law team in the region, Blandy & Blandy prides itself on providing an unrivalled service in this specialist area. We are delighted that our

expertise and significant experience has again been recognised in these important UK-wide rankings.

We aim to compete with the service offered by much larger, normally London-based firms, and believe that our extensive knowledge of the region and our established relationships with other leading professional services firms helps to set us apart.”

Interactive mock tribunal popular

Blandy & Blandy welcomed over 100 HR and business professionals to its annual Mock Employment Tribunal in March.

“Performed” by the firm’s leading employment law team, the ‘case’ had been chosen in advance by attendees, who were invited to select from several options when registering for the event. And the voting didn’t stop there. Before the ‘judge’ (partner and team head Sue Dowling) outlined her decision, using their mobile devices guests were invited to vote on a series of elements as well as the overall outcome.

Blandy named as finalist in Thames Valley Property Awards

Blandy & Blandy has been named as a finalist in the ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ category at the Thames Valley Property Awards.

Blandy & Blandy won the award in 2017, with partners Jane Gunnell, Katja Wigham, John Dingle, Karen Jones and Simon Dimmick joining host and TV personality John Inverdale on stage.

Blandy & Blandy is home to one of the largest and most established combined commercial property and planning and environmental law teams in the Thames Valley.

100% of attendees said that they would recommend the event to others, describing it as “a great event”, “very informative”, “realistic”, “very relatable” and “excellent all round”.

success, with demand for permanent professionals rising. Looking at the legal and technology sectors in particular, there is promising growth for the region.”

“The South East is an increasingly attractive option for legal firms, considering the region’s proximity to the City. News that transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson recently held International Week at their Southampton office means the South East can expand its international reach, giving companies and staff across the Atlantic the chance to gather and

discuss upcoming technology and opportunities in the sector.”

“In addition, Reading’s legal market is positively growing, with several international law firms such as Shoosmiths LLP, Blandy & Blandy LLP and Boyes Turner having a strong presence in the region. Equally, Reading’s IT sector is expanding into a vibrant technology hub with over 45,000 tech jobs and annual digital revenues of £12 billion. PwC are also investing in their Reading office to demonstrate their confidence in the region’s future and this is a great sign for the coming months.”
