CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE ENGINEERING- BASED SOLUTION AT A TIME

B

ioengineering is one of the most rapidly growing—and changing—STEM fi elds.

Advancements in the fi eld are driving impressive progress in fi elds such as healthcare, artifi cial intelligence, and wearable devices, to name a few. At Temple University in Philadelphia, bioengineering students are paving the way for progressive innovation in

these areas. Jailiene Miranda is one of those students making signifi cant strides with her research. A senior at Temple and the treasurer of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Jailiene has set her sights on making signifi cant strides in biomechanics.

“My interest in biomechanics fi rst gained momentum through the world

of sports,” Jailiene said. “I loved playing sports growing up. I was so interested in how the body moved, what triggered sports injuries, and how to improve athletic performance. But my motivation to apply my curiosity and translate it to something meaningful came from my mom, who is a nurse and is the most caring person I know.”
