chequersladdingford.co.uk. The Chequers is one of the Kent coun- tryside’s hidden gems and is exactly what a village pub should be. Conveniently located near Paddock Wood and Yalding. The War and Peace, Event rolls back into Kent again, showcasing at
the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood from the 24th-28th July. Featuring mili- tary nostalgia, military vehicles, battle re-enactments, an air show and a vintage fashion show there will also be plenty of stalls allowing you to buy vintage pieces from the 1930s and 1940 to rekindle those mem- ories from yester-year, as well as wartime memorabilia and military souvenirs. Also featuring a ‘Battleship Breach Scenario’, where visitors tactically advance and clear their way through the deck section of a battleship using airsoft weapons under the professional instruction of ex SAS and author Phil Campion and his team. Live music and dance from the forties like jazz, swing and jump jive, together with funfair, helicopter flights, book signings, bars, etc. are very much the part of the show to enhance its pomp and glory and thus gift you a superb day out! Heart of Kent Hospice is delighted to bring an acclaimed fringe festival show to Kent - Outside the Box – A Live Show about Death on Monday 14th May 2018 at K Sports, Station Road, Aylesford. Funny, witty and entertaining, the show features stories and music about life’s final act to help us all confront the elephant in the room. Dubbed by critics as the ‘Mary Berry of death’, Outside the Box is performed by celebrant and award winning burial ground owner, Liz Rothschild. To find out more please visit
