If terms like ‘pull’, ‘snake’, ‘bank’ and ‘bread and butter’ all in the same sentence leave you baffled, don’t worry - you’re not alone. Believe it or not, all of the above are techniques used by the masters of table football, or ‘foosball’ as the Americans call it. Foosball for iPad is still the 'beautiful game', except that, instead of a sweaty common room or ironically hip bar, this can be played at home or at work. Just plug in your iPad, fire up the free Classic Match Foosball app, and start twiddling! thefowndry.com

Attention! Under pressure!

Marital tiffs are part and parcel of daily life, but now research has found that they may actually affect men’s blood pressure, according to a study in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health. The researchers, who tracked changes in cardiovascular risk factors in more than 600 married dads for more than ten years, found that blood pressure in those whose relationships were consistent showed few changes. On the other hand, dads whose relationships had altered in some way – usually for the worse – displayed a greater incidence of raised blood pressure.

How to style a military- inspired haircut!

With its high-faded sides and slightly longer top, the classic high and tight look has always been a favourite among military men. But that’s not to say you have to enrol in the forces and don army fatigues to make it work for you. Here, award-winning barber and founder of The Lions Barber

Collective charity, Tom Chapman, tells you how to create this contemporary high and tight hairstyle.

1. Start by washing the hair with The Bluebeards Revenge Shampoo and Conditioner. This helps to ensure the hair is clean and sits true to its natural fall.

2. Dry the hair with a towel before creating a horseshoe section to isolate the hair on top.

3. Remove the bulk of the hair on the sides to create a blank canvas for the high-fade.

Now here’s something hair-raising…or should that be erasing?

There’s no doubt that male grooming has come a long way! Gone are the days when men were mocked for simply using moisturiser….recent research has shown that trimming or shaving leg hair is now commonplace! A survey by Men’s Health magazine found that almost half of its Facebook followers admitted to taking some steps towards grooming their legs, with fifteen per cent saying they shaved their legs completely and a third admitting to using trimmers to shorten their leg hair!

4. Release the top and blend it into the sides and back, then point- cut to the desired length.

5. While the hair is still damp, apply a small amount of pre-styling product. Blow dry.

6. Once dry, use clippers to establish the shortest grade nice and high on the head before working through the grades, blending into the previous length on top.

7. Tidy up the edges of the cut with trimmers.

8. Remove hair debris with a men’s talk and a neck brush.
