MM Flooring

under foot! Fab

You may have a beautiful home that’s tastefully decorated. But, how do you ensure that your flooring is not only practical, but ‘in sync’ with the rest of your décor? MM shows you how…

Carpet Over the last few years, carpet seems to have been increasingly overlooked in favour of wood and tile floors, but the right carpet can still add a touch of ‘pizzazz’ to any home! There’s a great range of styles and designs to fit any décor – traditional, minimalist or whatever – and you’ll probably be spoilt for choice! When you’re choosing a carpet, don’t make the mistake of simply looking

for a colour. Think, for example, about where the carpet is to be located – is there a lot of footfall? If so, it will need to be relatively hardwearing. By carefully considering these aspects, you’ll end up with the perfect carpet for your home – and your lifestyle!

Laminate flooring One of the most popular flooring types, laminate flooring is not only adaptable, but comes in a fabulous range of designs and finishes. It’s particularly good for people who want to give their floors a hardwood appearance – but without the cost! What makes laminate flooring unique is that it

doesn’t attach to the floor underneath. Instead, foam underlay is placed between the subfloor and laminate, keeping the two surfaces separate and providing for a softer footfall. Depending on the type of planks that you buy, they are either snapped together or glued together. Laminate flooring is particularly easy to clean,

which makes it the ideal choice for busy homes, and it’s especially popular for living rooms, dining rooms and hallways. Practical, fuss-free and simple to fit, it can transform any room quickly and economically. It’s now available in a variety of realistic wood, slate and stone finishes, so you’ve plenty of styles to choose from. If there are any downsides to laminate flooring, it’s

probably the fact that, if you spill water on to it, it can cause the flooring to swell if it gets in between the seams. It also tends to chip easily - especially the tongue and groove sections.
