Kaley Collins, a sophomore mem-
ber of the University of Arkansas Ranch Horse Team, won the reserve buckle in the novice February 17 at the NRCHA Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth.
Grant Martin, Hensley, AR, won
the $25K-Novice-NP February 17, with a 73 on TR Reyn Dancer at White River CHA’s event in Pleasant Plains, AR.
Anderson Shiro ISD’s FFA Horse
Judging Teamwon San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s contest February 19, with 149 teams competing and 470 in- dividuals. Members were Brice Beene, Taylor Cooper, Maryn Lara, and Zane Moriarty, with Stacey Byars-Cosby coaching them.
Lindsey McCracken, Houston,
and Heza Krymsun Hotrod did all the good February 23-24 at S.A.L.E. Shows. They were HP Amateur champ in AQHA and APHA shows, plus 19&o HP champs in the all-breed show.

February 26 double wins, amateur all-age stallions, open yearling stallions; 2 grands each in amateur and open! Then March 9 triple wins amateur stallions 2&u, open yearling stallions and 3 grands each amateur and open!

Dr. Cliff Honnas was recognized as
the 2018 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Award February 28. That is the Big 12 Conference’s highest academic honor.
Dr. Cliff Honnas, Bryan, was hon-
ored by his fellow colleagues March 3 when he was presented with the Equine Practitioner of the Year award at the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Awards Banquet at The Woodlands. He practices at Texas Equine Hospital.
Dr. Jim Heird was named as
AQHA’s new president on March 5, the first to be chosen to that position. Cur- rently a Texas A&M University profes- sor, he has been dedicated to the AQHA for 5 decades, including 42 years teach- ing, researching, and mentoring.
Dr. Brad Buckley, Salado, was a
candidate March 6 on the Republican ticket for State Representative for House District 54, and he is now in a run-off to be held May 22. He’s managing partner at Killeen Veterinary Clinic and an ACHA member.
Avery Ellis, a senior on Texas
A&M University’s equestrian team, was named Southeastern Conference’s Feb- ruary Horsemanship Rider of the month.
