therapy spotlight Polarity Therapy

The Missing Link in Healing Arts P

olarity therapy is a holistic, spiritually oriented system of health care intended to

restore a balanced distribution of the body’s en- ergy, while incorporating manipulation, exer- cise and dietary restrictions. Austrian physician Dr. Randolph Stone founded polarity therapy, and he integrated his work as a chiropractor, osteopath, naturopath and naprapath with Eastern concepts of energy fl ow in the ayurvedic system of India, along with the yogic path and Chinese and Egyptian systems of health. Polarity therapy practitioners are trained in body/energy work,

communication skills with high levels of integrity, polarity yoga and nutrition—all based on balancing the fi ve elements of ether (space), air, fi re, water and Earth. Craniosacral work is at the core, and each element follows a specifi c pathway in the body and energy system. Stone looked at humans as having wireless anatomy and

a sacred geometry as a blueprint that can be accessed through corrections on all levels—physical/structural, emotional, mental and spiritual. His comprehensive approach is documented in fi ve books, and passed through teaching to practitioners. Many practitioners say that polarity therapy provides the

missing link, enabling them to integrate many aspects of the healing arts. T e goal is to become truly one’s self, and the tools to achieve it can be taken in many directions as guided by the soul and desires of the practitioner. Chiropractors and osteopaths will perhaps address the structure. Massage therapists and other bodyworkers will incorporate more energy healing, while psychotherapists may want to bring touch into their practice. Whatever the form, expansion and transformation is the goal, with allowance for each person’s unique approach. Practitioners are trained to allow for the client’s pace—or the

pace of the client’s soul— which can diff er for each person. T is is where consistent support by the practitioner is important as integration of the soul and personality happens.
