HSBC CHIEF BANKING ON HONG KONG EVENT
CHAMBER TO HOST STALL AT EVENT
Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce will host a stall at the export fair, ExportMK, at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes on Friday 23 March 2018. The event will be focused on
SMEs in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas who are looking to find out what export opportunities are currently available or those businesses that wish to obtain the information, contacts and confidence to start exporting. The Chamber’s international
HSBC UK bank chief Ian Stuart is one of the key business figures supporting the GREAT Festival of Innovation, taking place in Hong Kong. He will be joined by several
hundred of the UK’s most creative businesses and institutions between 21 and 24 March 2018, led by the Department for International Trade (DIT) to promote UK excellence overseas. The festival will see firms
showcasing their expertise, raising their profile among global investors and in Asian markets. Speakers, panellists and masterclass participants include leaders of
globally-recognised businesses, cultural institutions, sports events and media commentators. As part of the UK Government’s
successful GREAT Britain campaign, the festival will examine how innovation and technology can change the way we work, live, play and learn in the future. International trade secretary, Dr
Liam Fox, said the festival would give new and existing exporters the opportunity to further strengthen the UK’s reputation as a trading nation that is one of the best places to do business. Dr Fox said: “The Great Festival of Innovation will bring together the
best entrepreneurs and the most advanced technology from across the UK and Asia to explore how we will work, live, play and learn in the future. Led by my international economic department, this festival will be a major showcase for our talent, creativity and design on the world stage. From smart robots and cities to autonomous vehicles, the UK is already a global technology hub and the festival will help secure that position for generations to come.”

GET INVOLVED IN TRADE FORUMS
Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce is encouraging international businesses to help steer the direction of our future International Trade Forums. We launched the forums at the end of 2016 and
have hosted events on a variety of topics, including trade finance and access to markets. Our forums are exclusive to Chamber members and
give members the opportunity to discuss international trade issues affecting them so we can present their views to the UK Government. They also help members to learn about new markets. Milton Keynes Chamber international trade
manager Brigid Hodgkinson said: “To ensure our forums continue to be a success we are encouraging members to let us know what topics they would like to see covered.”
An International Trade Forum Our next International Trade Forum will be held will
be held on 20 April, 9-11am at Northamptonshire Chamber, 8 Waterside Way, Northampton, NN4 7XD.

trade manager Brigid Hodgkinson and business development executive Simon Elton will be attending after a personal invitation to Chamber chief executive Paul Griffiths from Milton Keynes MPs Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart. SMEs only make up five to 10%
of current exports from the UK. It is important for SMEs in MK and across the country, in order to stay competitive, to consider exporting now and when new opportunities arise around the world. The event will be at Stadium MK
from 10am - 4pm. Admission is free for all attendees.
